Yappy Hour - Old Timers

We all love senior dogs, but sometimes they don't love the hubbub of a dog park with a bunch of young, active pups running around acting crazy.

So, on May 11, we're opening up the Bar K Lab for a Yappy Hour just for our senior dog friends! It will be a wonderful evening just for the old timers to hang out and chill with their human best friends.

How exactly do we define senior dogs? All dogs age differently, and bigger dogs age more quickly than the little ones. So we don't want to have a strict definition. You know best if your dog is showing signs of aging and would appreciate a quiet evening. But here is a rule of thumb from Tufts University:

"The point at which a dog qualifies as 'aged' varies. Veterinarians generally consider small dogs to be senior citizens at about 12 years of age, while large dogs reach the senior stage at 6 to 8 years of age. This roughly corresponds to the 55-plus category in people."

We look forward to seeing you and your old timers on Thursday! We'll have some literature with health tips for older dogs, and some treats made specially for older pups as well. As always, admission to the Lab is free for Bar K Members. For non-members, the cost is $10 for your first dog, and $5 for each additional dog in your pack.
